About Me

I’m Alison Guerrero, founder of Be Polished Style, and my love for fashion has been stitched into my life from the very beginning. I grew up surrounded by stylish, capable women—my grandmother, my aunts, my mother, and my sister—each of them expressing themselves through clothing, creativity, and craftsmanship.

My grandmother and mother were exceptional seamstresses, and some of my earliest memories are of watching them transform fabric into something beautiful. As a young girl, I would sit nearby, mesmerized by the rhythm of their sewing machines and the way a simple piece of cloth could become an outfit full of personality. Whenever I couldn’t find what I wanted in a store, I’d ask my mom to make it—she always understood exactly what I envisioned. Years later, when I searched endlessly for the perfect lace trim for my wedding veil, she created it for me by hand. It’s still one of my most treasured pieces.

In high school, I joined FHA and served on the student board, where I learned to sew myself. That experience deepened my appreciation for craftsmanship and taught me how clothing can empower, transform, and tell a story.

By the time I was 15, my passion for fashion was so strong that I got my first job purely so I could go to the mall and buy the pieces my little fashion heart desired. Some of my earliest purchases still make me smile: a leather blazer‑style jacket from GAP (yes, I still have it—and yes, it’s now considered vintage), and a pair of fabulous wood‑and‑leather clogs from J.Crew that I ordered from a catalog. I wish I still had those clogs, and I really wish online shopping had existed back then to show that small‑town Texas girl just how big the fashion world truly was.

Being tall in the 90s (I’m 5'10") came with its own set of challenges. Women’s long lengths didn’t exist yet, so jeans were always too short. Shorts were too short too—so I simply didn’t wear them to school, even in the Texas heat. I often ended up shopping in the men’s section just to find pants that fit. I still remember the thrill of buying my first pair of women’s long‑length jeans from GAP in the late 90s. From that moment on, I became a loyal GAP girl (not a paid sponsor—but honestly, I should be).

Those early experiences taught me something foundational: the right fit can completely change how you feel. It can boost your confidence, shift your posture, and help you show up in the world with intention. That understanding has shaped my entire approach to style.

This lifelong love for how clothing made me feel—and how it allowed me to express my personal style—led me to pursue and obtain a degree in Fashion Merchandising. During college, I worked at several retail stores, including Nordstrom. It was there that I discovered how much I loved helping women of all ages and sizes find clothing that made them look and feel amazing. There is something truly magical about building another person’s confidence simply through their attire.

From there, I carved a more corporate path, but always with ties to the fashion world. I worked as a product developer for watches and eyewear, and as a buyer for a large eyewear retail chain. I spent two decades in the optical industry, leading buying, sales, and business development. No matter my role, my goal and passion remained the same: to help people look and feel their best, to offer products that fit them well, and to leave them with more confidence in themselves.

Today, I’m grateful to bring that passion directly to individuals through the services I offer at Be Polished Style. My mission is simple: to help you discover your own polished, powerful style—one that honors your story, celebrates your uniqueness, and makes you feel confident every single day.
